Weekend Adventure

Took a short trip to Virginia last weekend to visit my niece and family. It was not a long trip so I did not get to do as much sight seeings as I would have liked, but we had a good time. We went to the Washington Captials hockey game on Friday night and then Saturday we took the Metro into Washington D.C. This was my first trip to D.C. We only had time for a couple of museums. We started at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. The museum is full of spaceflight artifacts and tells the complete history of flight and it's use influence in the history of the world.

After the Air and Space musuem we were able to go to the Holocaust museum before the museums closed. The Holocaust museum was very well put together and definitely worth visiting. We only had time to get through these two museums. They are so large and extensive it can take hours to go through them all. We didn't visit the Captial and the Washtington Monument, but we had nice views for picture taking on the National Mall.

There is so much to see and do around Washington D.C. you need several days to see it all. Just the Smithsonian museums can take multiple days to go through. It is definitely a walkable city, but it is alot of walking. So, for people with mobility issues or that cannot walk for long periods of time I recommend doing a hop on/ hop off bus tour or using the Metro busses to minimize the distance you have to walk each day. Washington D.C. is definitely a must see destination. I am already planning a trip back to hit more museums and sights!
